In a beautiful location only 130 Kilometers away from Barcelona is Casa Mieres in Catalonia.

The district Garrotxa, which belongs to the province Girona, has a capitol city Olot which is cut through the river Fluvià into two areas.

Alta Garrotxa (Upper Garrotxa) on the French border is sparsely populated and has a craggy brittle landscape filled with wild beauty. Whereas the landscape of Baixa Garrotxa (Under Garrotxa) is idyllic and pleasant.

We should also mention the unique Nature Park, which is a Vulcanic area of Garrotxa with the country town Olot. It has well preserved craters, spectacular basalt and lava formed stones(Castellfollit de la Roca). There are quarries and some of the best examples of vulcanic landscape in Europe.

Other places with outstanding landscapes are the Puig de Bassegoda, the Serra de la Mare de Déu del Mont (with the Sanctuary of the same name), the Serra del Corb and the Serra de Finestres, the Puigsacalm, the valleys of Hostoles, Bas, Bac and Bianya, the area of Santa Pau (with the famous beech grove "Fageda de Jordà") and the Moixina-Quelle nearby Olot.
